Paddling Pools

When the summer sun is beating down, the perfect place to cool off is in the pool. With an inflatable paddling pool, you can have all the fun of splashing, paddling and swimming in your own garden. In addition to being quick and easy to set up, kids' paddling pools are convenient to store for the rest of the year.

How do I choose the right paddling pool?

If you are limited on space, choose one of our 3ft or 4ft pop-up paddling pools for a compact splash space that works in all gardens and is easy to transport and store when not in use. Larger gardens can take advantage of bigger paddling pools for the whole family. With options starting at 6ft all the way up to 13ft rigid-sided framed pools, you’ll be sure to find the perfect paddling pool for a sunny day.

Our range of inflatable paddling pools are made from tough, multi-layered PVC. It is soft when climbing over and leaning against, but puncture-resistant, so there are no surprise floods! Bright colours and characters also make splash time magical for young children.

What are the benefits of paddling pools for children?

Diving into the world of paddling pools also offers a treasure trove of physical health benefits for our energetic little ones. With each splash and giggle, children engage in physical activities that help them burn energy and build essential motor skills. The playful chaos of water games fosters coordination and elevates their confidence around water, a pivotal safety skill.

As parents and caregivers look to offer screen-free activities, children can dive into social interactions with family and friends, learn cooperation, and build friendships through shared water adventures. These experiences are instrumental in teaching essential social skills and imaginative play.

Add even more fun with water blasters for epic garden battles around the pool, or expand your water wonderland with a water slide featuring built-in sprinklers and a hose to keep them on their toes. For more inspiration, take a look at our fun water games to beat the heat.

Paddling Pool Safety

Remember, no matter how strong a swimmer your child is, they should always be closely supervised when playing in and around the water. Splashing and swimming is fantastic for our brains and bodies, but staying safe while having fun is always our priority. Shallow paddling pools are perfect for your little one to splash about with you. Our baby paddling pools are no more than 30 inches deep and are suitable for toddlers.

In the UK, there are no legal requirements to have fencing around paddling pools. However, it is strongly recommended that precautions be taken to ensure the safety of children around water. Always empty small paddling pools and turn them over after use. Ensure hosepipes are turned off or disconnected so children cannot fill paddling pools independently.

How many days can you leave water in a paddling pool?

You should change the water in your paddling pool every day to ensure it stays fresh and free from debris. This is especially important in baby paddling pools. For larger paddling pools, a pool cover can protect water overnight by keeping out unwanted debris and significantly slowing down the development of algae or bacteria. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your specific paddling pool. You should also regularly check the water in any paddling pool for clarity, odour, and any visible signs of contamination. Teaching children to wash their hands and feet before splashing around in their paddling pool can also help maintain water quality and teach children about cleanliness and safety.

Can I put chlorine tablets in my swimming pool?

Adding chlorine to small paddling pools is unnecessary if you change the water daily. Chlorine must always be dispersed into a paddling pool using a filter. Large framed paddling pools will come equipped with a pump. Even with chlorine, it is recommended to change the water frequently, especially in warm weather.

Should I put a paddling pool on grass or concrete?

Paddling pools can be placed on grass or concrete, but each surface has key considerations. Grass provides a softer landing if children take a tumble, and it absorbs water splashes, preventing slippery surfaces outside of the paddling pool. However, be wary of uneven surfaces and debris contaminating the paddling pool. Prolonged use of a paddling pool in your garden will kill the grass underneath. Concrete can provide a flatter surface; however, there is more risk of slips, and concrete can get very hot in direct sunlight.

What can I put under a paddling pool?

When preparing your outdoor space for kids’ paddling pools, a little extra care can ensure a safe and comfortable play area for children:

  • Ground sheets can help prevent your paddling pools from getting damaged by sharp debris and also keep your little one’s feet safe.
  • Interlocking foam tiles create a soft, cushioned area – ideal for active little explorers who may take a tumble now and then.
  • Sand is a fun, sensory option that can stimulate creativity and tactile play with kids who might not live close to a beach.

How do you heat a paddling pool?

Children may feel reluctant to plunge into cool water, even on a warm day! However, warming up a paddling pool is easier than you might think. Place your paddling pool in a sunny spot and let the sun work its magic. Remember, smaller paddling pools will warm up much quicker. Pool covers can lock in warmth for larger paddling pools and minimise heat loss.
