Who said museums are boring? The UK has some of the most interactive and engaging museums in the world, which are just perfect for a family day out.

Are you raising a little scientist? Plan a day out to the Science Museum in London. It’s a great place to explore hands-on exhibits that explore the evolution of technology and the wonders and secrets of science! Plus, you can keep them engaged with the world of discovery afterwards with a great selection of STEM toys, helping to further feed that scientific curiosity.

Alternatively, you may enjoy the Natural History Museum which is one of the most kid-friendly museums in London. Showcasing mind-blowing exhibits featuring dinosaurs and animal evolution! A site your child will remember forever.

If you have already been to these, try visiting the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, a great way to learn about the UK’s rich naval history. Or you can visit the National Railway Museum which explores the history of public transport across the UK.

2. Camera Obsura and World of Illusions

Camera Obscura is a great place to have fun with your child and be entertained whilst exploring the illusions of science in an engaging way.

Alternatively, there are several events in London that showcase entertaining exhibits featuring optical illusions or mind-bending light shows. Give it a try with the family, you’ll be surprised how good of a day-out it can be.

Why not take a camera with you so your little one can capture the exciting adventure?

5. Stonehenge

The mysterious, ancient monuments that have captured everyone’s attention over thousands of years.

How did they get there? Who built them? Who carried them? All the questions to debate with your little ones and get their imagination flowing.

First, we recommend bringing an audio guide for the children. This can help them understand the history of Stonehenge in an engaging and easy way. We are sure your children will be amazed at the size of these incredible stones and want to understand their purpose. (As do we all!)

You can walk around Stonehenge and have the chance to touch the monuments to feel the texture of these amazing ancient rocks! You can also explore the fields, go spotting local wildlife or if you have more energy, you can go on a cycle trail.

Be sure to bring along some sandwiches and snacks, set up a picnic and enjoy with a beautiful view.

6. Theme parks

For thrilling rides to entertaining shows, a day-out at a theme park always ends with laughter and great memories.

(And who doesn’t love the kids falling asleep out of exhaustion)

There are several theme parks to choose from in the UK such as: Alton Towers in Staffordshire, Thorpe Park in Surrey, Drayton Manor Park in Staffordshire, Chessington World of Adventures, London, Peppa Pig World in Hampshire or Flamingo Land in Yorkshire.

Your children will be screaming with excitement as they soar in the skies, dipping and diving at 50mph! Or if your children enjoy more subtle rides, they can enjoy the teacup or the swings.

From live music and magician performances to interactive mazes and character meet-and-greets, your children will most definitely be entertained for hours on end.

And let’s not forget the delicious food! Indulge in all the classics like ice cream, cotton candy and hot dogs.
